1) What is Accidental Death Insurance?

Accidental death and dismemberment insurance (also known as AD& D) covers death or dismemberment as a result of an accident. In contrast to life insurance, AD&D generally would not pay survivor benefits in the case of death by illness. AD&D premiums are generally cheaper than life insurance because the incidence of death by accident is lower than death by natural causes. Dismemberment refers to the loss of two limbs or the complete loss of sight (ie: blindness), and is a rider (attached endorsement) to a policy.

13) Why are benefits reduced at age 75?

From time to time, Keystone Insurance Company feels it necessary to review the Policy. Recent analysis indicated that insureds age 75 and in particular 80 years and older, contributed a disproportionate number of land motor vehicle and pedestrian travel accidents. However, unlike some companies that do not offer coverage after a certain age or reduce benefits at lower ages, some starting as early as 65, we chose to reduce benefits at age 75 on land motor vehicle and pedestrian travel accidents only. Common Carrier and Scheduled airline travel accidents are not affected by this reduction. This action resulted in no increase in premiums to any of our insureds covered under this Group Policy.
